In the pool of ALL applicants, who chooses which path? Do “tending toward acceptance” students predominantly apply ED/EA? What are the motivations of students who choose to apply ED/EA? Do students “tending toward rejection” and middle students apply ED because of the generally higher acceptance rate? If so, will more “tending toward rejection” students apply ED/EA than Regular? How much of the difference of acceptance rate (if extant) for ED/EA is due to self-selection and how much is due to (if extant) the ratio of applicants in the ED/EA pool to reserved seats for those applicants? Do more “tending toward acceptance” students apply regular because they don’t believe they will need the higher acceptance rate of ED/EA?
