1875 is when the french begun work. It would be the tallest structure in the United States when it arrived, taller than the brooklyn bridge. 

It was thought up because America was coming up on its 100th birthday, and the man believed that democracy was the future, and so he wanted to celebrate it and spark democracy in france. 

They money was raised via a lottery in france, basically. 

Ultimately, Eiffel, of the Eiffel Tower, would figure out how the statue would hold up to the wind and fit together. 

For the unveiling, only 2 women were present, out of 600. Over 1 million people lined New York streets for a parade on Broadway. 

During the unveiling, nobody said a thing about welcoming immigrants. 

The statue of liberty poem, "your huddled masses yearning to breath free, the homeless", which is a shame, because of homelessness.
